DANCE 35B Afro-Caribbean Dance II

Prerequisites: DANCE 35A Afro-Caribbean Dance I with a grade of “C” or better.
This course is a continuation of the study of African and Caribbean dances. It emphasizes the role of dance in African culture, its connections to Voodoo and to various dance techniques. Emphasis is also placed on polyrhythmic patterns as well as developing alignment and muscular control. This course also introduces African and Caribbean movement aesthetics. (UC, CSU)
