GEOL 1A Physical Geology w/Lab Units: 4 Advisories: Successful completion of Beginning Algebra or appropriate placement as determined by the college’s multiple measures assessment process and ENG 1A or ENG 2A with a grade of “C” or better. This course is an introduction to the principles of geology with emphasis on Earth processes. This course focuses on the internal structure and origin of the Earth and the processes that change and shape it. The laboratory component focuses on the identification of rocks and minerals, topographic and geologic map exercises demonstrating the work of water, wind, ice and gravity and effects of tectonic activity. Field trip(s) may be required. This course is designed for science majors. (HBCU, UC, CSU, C-ID GEOL 101)
