MATH 39 Precalculus Units: 6 Prerequisites: Successful completion of Intermediate Algebra or appropriate placement as determined by the multiple measures assessment process . This course is a preparatory course for Calculus. It emphasizes the algebraic and trigonometric knowledge and skills required in Calculus. Topics include linear and non linear equations, a study of polynomial, transcendental and trigonometric functions, sequences and series, conic sections, polar coordinates, systems of equations, exponential and logarithmic functions and equations, Binomial Theorem, mathematical induction and related applications. Graphing calculators may be required. Credit may not be granted for MATH 39 and MATH 38A /MATH 38B . MATH 38A and MATH 38B are equivalent to MATH 39. (HBCU, UC, CSU)
