LAW /POLSC 35A Pathway to Law Program Seminar: Orientation Units: 1 This course introduces students to the Pathway to Law program as the first in a series of seminar courses. Through a selection of class activities, possible field trips, readings, and guest lectures, students will be introduced to a variety of specializations and occupations within the field of law. These may include a variety of occupational opportunities in animal law, alternative dispute resolution, art law, business law, civil rights law, criminal law, employment and labor law, environmental law, family law, food law, health and medical law, immigration law, intellectual property law, international law, land use and real estate law, military law, science and technology law, sports and entertainment law, and other specialties. Service/civic learning and networking opportunities may be provided to develop internship placements and mentoring arrangements in order to obtain law or law-related experience, to prepare for additional legal education or employment, and to explore interest in various occupations within the diverse field of law. Since LAW 35A and POLSC 35A are cross listed courses, credit may be awarded for either LAW 35A or POLSC 35A but not both. (HBCU, CSU)
