PSYCH 45B Intermediate Field Practicum Units: 3 Hours: 54 hours LEC Grade Options: Letter Grade Prerequisites: PSYCH 45A Beginning Field Practicum with a grade of “C” or better. This course is designed to provide an opportunity for the student to have continued guided experiences and the development of clinical skills, assessment strategies, and practice counseling theory in one of the following settings: drug and alcohol, mental health, or a human service agency. The student observes professional staff working with clients in a public agency and engages in supervised field experience at a social service or related agency. Three hours in class is required each week to integrate practical experiences with theory learned in social science courses. A minimum of 135 hours of field experience in addition to a class schedule is required to receive credit for the course. Since PSYCH 45B and SOCIO 45B are cross listed courses, credit may be awarded for either PSYCH 45B or SOCIO 45B but not both. (HBCU, CSU)
