MATH 38A Precalculus I Units: 4 Hours: 72 hours LEC Grade Options: Letter Grade General Education: Delta Area 1B; CSU Area B4; IGETC Area 2 Prerequisites: Successful completion of Intermediate Algebra or appropriate placement as determined by the multiple measures assessment process , or concurrent enrollment in MATH 71 Corequisite Support for Precalculus I . This is part I of a preparatory course for Calculus. In this course, emphasis is placed on the algebraic skills and function knowledge necessary for success in Calculus. Topics include absolute value, linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, radical, exponential and logarithmic equations, functions and their applications. Graphing calculators may be required. Since MATH 38A and MATH 38AEX are equivalent courses, credit may be awarded for either MATH 38A or MATH 38AEX but not both. (HBCU, UC, CSU, C-ID MATH 955)
