HORT 1 Environmental Horticulture Units: 4 Hours: 54 hours LEC; 54 hours LAB Grade Options: Letter Grade Term Typically Offered: Every fall term This course provides an introduction to the relationship between plant growth and the environment, emphasizing the application of science, art, and technology in the production of plants. Topics cover basic principles of botany and include plant anatomy, physiology, growth, and development; botanical nomenclature and plant classification; plant genetics, reproduction, and propagation; climate, soil, and water; as well as health threats to food, fiber, ornamental, and native plants. This course is useful for any student interested in plants and is required for first-year horticulture majors. (HBCU, UC, CSU)
