MATH 38AEX Precalculus I with Support

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Intermediate Algebra or appropriate placement as determined by the multiple measures assessment process .
This is part I of a preparatory course for Calculus. In this course, emphasis is placed on the algebraic skills and function knowledge necessary for success in Calculus. Topics include absolute value, linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, radical, exponential and logarithmic equations, functions and their applications. This course includes lab time to provide just-in-time review of prerequisite skills, extra content instruction, and active learning opportunities to support student learning. Graphing calculators may be required. (UC, CSU) Notes: Credit may be awarded for either MATH 38AEX or MATH 38A but not both. Math 38AEX and Math 38BEX together are equivalent to Math 39, Precalculus. Math 38AEX and Math 38BEX must both be passed with a C or better to fulfill Cal-GETC Area 2 (Mathematical Concepts and Quantitative Reasoning).
