ANTH 13 Forensic Anthropology

Advisories: ANTH 2  and ANTH 2L  with a minimum grade of “C”.
This course introduces students to the scientific methods and techniques used to identify and analyze human skeletal remains in a legal context. The course will address how forensic anthropologists contribute to investigations, particularly in determining the circumstances and causes of death. Students will learn about skeletal biology and dental anatomy, osteology, how to analyze skeletal data, and explore forensic data collection. They will learn to create a biological profile by identifying age, sex, stature, and ancestry in skeletal individuals, and identify trauma patterns as they relate to personal identification, cause, and manner of death.
