ELECT 030B Routing and Switching Essentials Computer Networks Units: 4 Prerequisites: ELECT 030A Introduction to Computer Networks with a grade of “C” or better. This course describes the architecture, components, and operations of Cisco routers and switches. It includes router and routing concepts and terminology OSPF, RIP, EIGRP routing protocols, distance vector and link state routing, routing theory, TCP/IP basics, IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, VLSM (Variable Length Subnet Mask, CIDR (Classless Inter-domain Routing), router IOS (Internetwork Operating System) and configurations, switching concepts, CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol) and CSMA-CD. Students will get hands-on experience configuring Cisco routers and switches. (CSU)
