MATH 020 Finite Mathematics Units: 3 Prerequisites: MATH 092S Intermediate Algebra (STEM) , or MATH-082, Intermediate Algebra, or MATH 092G Intermediate Algebra , each with a grade of “C” or better or a minimum of a level 5 on the Math Placement Test. This course is designed to fulfill the mathematics requirements of the student in business administration, management, life sciences, or social sciences. The course covers a variety of topics including linear functions, systems of equations and inequalities, matrices, linear programming, elementary combinatorial techniques, sets, Venn diagrams, elementary probability and statistics, the mathematics of finance and Markov Chains. Application problems to business, economics and social sciences are emphasized throughout. Graphing calculators are used extensively. The TI-84 PLUS is used for instructor demonstrations.
