BUS 7 Professional Communications and Teamwork Units: 3 Prerequisites: ENG 1A Reading and Composition with a grade of “C” or better. This course engages with principles of communication, group discussion processes, problem solving, conflict management, decision making, leadership, and teamwork, including theory, application, and evaluation thereof, in a variety of professional contexts. The course applies the principles of ethical and effective communication to the creation of letters, memos, emails, and written and oral reports and communications for a variety of business, law, policy, real estate, and/or other professional group situations. The course emphasizes planning, organizing, composing, and revising business and professional projects and documents using word processing software for written documents and presentation-graphics software to create and deliver professional-level oral reports and other communications in group contexts. The course explores the evaluation of members and leaders, and it examines the influence of structure, norms, roles, leadership, and climate on the processes of communication and collaborative decision-making.
