Upon successful completion of the Law Enforcement Associate in Science degree, the student demonstrates the fulfillment of lower-division requirements for accredited baccalaureate institutions, preparation for participation in the Basic Peace Officer Academy, and a career within the criminal justice system.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Concepts and Theories: Students will demonstrate the ability to define and use criminal justice system key terms, concepts and theories.
  2. Constitutional Law: Students will demonstrate the ability to identify how the U.S. Constitution applies to the actions and conduct of peace officers.
  3. Communication: Students will demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing the results of analysis and understanding.
  4. Career: Students will develop a plan to achieve a career in their desired area of the criminal justice system.
  5. Criminal Law: Students will demonstrate the knowledge required to recognize elements, classifications and definitions involving crimes against persons and crimes against property.
  6. Community Policing: Students will demonstrate the ability to reflect critically on developments in the criminal justice policy and the relationship of these policies to the wider political and social environment.
  7. Investigations: Students will demonstrate the ability to investigate crimes and testify in a legal proceeding.
