Correctional Science Certificate of Achievement

Upon successful completion of the Correctional Science Certificate of Achievement, students will demonstrate knowledge and skills desired for entry-level employment as a jailer, correctional officer, probation officer or parole agent. Additionally, students that complete this certificate could receive higher compensation with agencies that offer educational/pay incentives. Students will be able to recognize and apply the concepts and terminology needed to gain employment in the criminal justice system at either the county, state, or federal level.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge and skills common to entry level employment as a jailer, correctional officer, probation officer or parole agent.
  2. Demonstrate their ability to recognize and apply the concepts and terminology that are needed to understand the corrections component of the criminal justice system.
