English, AA-T

This program is designed for students planning to transfer to a California State University (CSU) or a University of California (UC) with a major in English. Do you dream of having dinner with Sylvia Plath and James Baldwin? Of having drinks with Ernest Hemingway and Sandra Cisneros? Or of going dancing with Kendrick Lamar, Maya Angelou, and William Shakespeare? Do you smile with pleasure at hearing a well-turned phrase in a favorite song? Do you love to play with language, to bend it using irony or humor? Do you love to read — to become other people, to see the world through more sensitive, more articulate and shrewder eyes? Consider English! English offers courses that sharpen your skills in close reading, critical thinking, and clear communication, while sparking creativity to solve real-world problems. English prepares you for a fulfilling career in teaching, writing, journalism, advertising, broadcasting, screenwriting, business, government, law, and more.

Program Learning Outcomes
