Program Pathway

Electron Microscopy - Crystalline Materials Advanced Training Certificate of Achievement

Upon successful completion of the Electron Microscopy - Crystalline Materials Advanced Training Certificate of Achievement, the student demonstrates skill sets directly relatable to the needs of the industry, which qualifies them to work in the areas of Applications, Failure Analysis Technicians, R&D Technicians, Microscopist, Technical Sales and Marketing. The certificate also prepares students for engineering type roles due to their ability to acquire skills that validate their understanding of Electron Microscopy skill-sets in the advanced courses, which helps them to understand materials and defect characterization. The student demonstrates their ability to perform direct hands-on work in the areas of specimen preparation on a variety of material types, understand system design, layout and maintenance of equipment, and data interpretation of fault isolation to identify root cause in order to validate corrective action. The student demonstrates skills, knowledge, and training in organization, team work, oral and written communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking. The student also demonstrates mastery level training in a variety of skills for employment qualifications marketable to over 22+ sectors of industry without any limitations.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to prepare samples for the light, and electron microscopes and Ion Beam system instrumentation.
  2. Demonstrate Competency in the operation of microscopes that image microstructure of a wide range of materials.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to evaluate and troubleshoot microscope instrumentation and related equipment.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to utilize safety protocols when working in a scientific laboratory.
  5. Produce Editorials Covers, Scientific Comparable images, Written and Pritable High Quality Images for Identification of Microstructures.
