Horticulture - Irrigation Technician Certificate of Achievement

Upon successful completion of the Horticulture - Irrigation Technician Certificate of Achievement, the student will demonstrate skills, knowledge, and training necessary to gain employment as a(n): Irrigation Technician, Landscape Manager or Groundskeeper, or Landscape Contractor, and to take various industry certification exams such as the Irrigation Association’s: Irrigation Technician, Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper, Water Auditor, and/or Irrigation Contractors exams. The student will demonstrate skills and understanding of landscape plant health and growth requirements, water sources and basic hydrology, the relationship between soil characteristics and irrigation design, common landscape maintenance practices, and irrigation component repair.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Apply knowledge and understanding of plant growth characteristics and health requirements to critically solve common problems in the landscape.
  2. Understand and apply basic business skills critical to the landscape management industry, such as time management, attention to detail, and consistency.
  3. Demonstrate technical skills and knowledge necessary for employment in the landscape management industry, specifically related to irrigation design and repair.

Restricted Electives
