The Noncredit ESL Milestone for Multilingual Speakers - Introduction to Health Careers Certificate of Completion is designed to introduce English Language learners (ELLs) to various short-term vocational certificate programs related to Health Careers and/or degree-applicable coursework in various Health Science certificate and degree programs. Multilingual students completing this certificate have obtained academic English reading and writing skills at an intermediate, post-secondary level. In addition, they have achieved success in prerequisite or introductory coursework in a variety of degree, certificate, and/or general education patterns. These two elements combine to demonstrate significant achievement of a milestone along their pathways to Health Careers certificates, degrees or transfer opportunities.

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Identify the educational requirements necessary to complete a healthcare career, and give a presentation about a selected healthcare career, including educational requirements, licensure or certification, salary, and career mobility.
- Participate in introductory health-related discussions effectively, take clear notes, and give short oral presentations.
- Evaluate brief written health-related communication and compose and organize sentences into effective paragraphs and short documents.
- Apply techniques of written communication, sentence structure, word usage, punctuation, and spelling.
- Write and edit paragraphs and short essays on academic topics and effectively use English as applied in Health Science classes as well as workplace environments in one of the Health Careers.
