Geology is the study of the Earth, its environments, and its history. It is an interdisciplinary science that combines geological observations and concepts with those of biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Its goals are to study rocks, minerals, fossils, energy and water resources, and to understand geologic principles and processes that shape the Earth and its environments, and impact human society. The Associate in Science in Geology for Transfer degree is designed specifically for transfer in a similar major to the California State University System.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Students who complete the program will be prepared to transfer to the CSU and major in Geology or a related science.
- Students who complete the program will achieve basic scientific literacy in Geology and related disciplines.
- Students who complete the program will be able to apply the scientific method to solve problems in Geology.
- Students who complete the program will be able to integrate concepts from other disciplines (e.g., Mathematics, Chemistry) to solve problems in Geology.

General Education
Complete one of the following general education patterns:
Students are advised to double-count courses in the major to also satisfy general education when possible. Course subject credit will be awarded in satisfaction of major and lower division general education requirements, but the units will only be counted once in computing the total number of units for the degree.

Complete all courses with a grade of “C” or better.
