Automotive Electric Technology Certificate of Achievement

Upon successful completion of Automotive Electric Technology certificate, the student demonstrates knowledge of the skills necessary to diagnose, service, and perform repairs on cars, SUVs, and light duty trucks. The student demonstrates competence in the following areas: electrical/electronic systems, heating and air conditioning, and engine performance. The student can take the three Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) exams in the mentioned areas. The student can pursue career opportunities at dealerships, independent repair shops, smog shops, specialization shops, and public agencies. This automotive training program is accredited by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) in association with the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). This program is also certified by the California Department of Consumer Affairs/Bureau of Automotive Repair (DCA/BAR). The student can receive Level I and Level II certification to obtain the California Smog Check Inspector and Smog Check Repair Technician licenses and the Brake and Headlamp Adjusters license through the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR). The student can also obtain the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) certificate in automotive air conditioning.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Diagnose and repair automotive electrical systems.
- Diagnose and repair automotive engine performance systems to meet local state and federal standards.
- Diagnose and repair automotive air conditioning systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical in hybrid vehicle systems.
