PHILO 30 Introductory Logic Units: 3 This course introduces principles of valid reasoning with emphasis on deductive logic. The course includes a study of formal techniques of sentential logic. The course also includes a treatment of inductive reasoning, language, or fallacies. The concepts of induction, deduction, validity, soundness, strength, and cogency are explored in detail. There is a survey of informal fallacies as well as an introduction to the methodology associated with symbolic logic, natural deduction, and the calculation of probabilities. (UC, CSU, C-ID PHIL 110)
