CDEV 32A Early Childhood Education Practicum-Field Experience

Prerequisites: CDEV 21 Child and Adolescent Development, CDEV 25 Observation and Assessment, CDEV 26 Child, Family and Community, CDEV 27 Culture and Diversity in Early Childhood Education, CDEV 28 Child Health, Safety and Nutrition, CDEV 31A Principles and Practices of Teaching Young Children, and CDEV 31B Introduction to ECE Curriculum each with a grade of “C” or better.
Limitations on Enrollment: TB Clearance within last 12 months, Finger printing/Live Scan, proof of Immunizations (DTAP & MMR).
This course is designed to prepare students to teach in various types of early childhood education programs. It includes a demonstration of developmentally appropriate early childhood teaching competencies under guided supervision. Students will utilize practical classroom experiences to make connections between theory and practice, develop professional behaviors, and build a comprehensive understanding of children and families. Child centered, play-oriented approaches to teaching, learning, and assessment, and knowledge of curriculum content areas will be emphasized as student teachers design, implement, and evaluate experiences that promote positive development and learning for all young children.
