This course is designed for the advanced student interested in the field of commercial music and entertainment. The ensemble consists of singer, backup instrumentalists, and technical crew who work together to study and perform selected musical arrangements. Opportunity for solo singing is frequent. The course stresses the study and performance of the unique American idioms of vocal jazz and songs of the American Musical Theater. The study of proper vocal technique, stage presence, and stage movement are also stressed.
