Upon successful completion of the Automotive Technology Associate in Science, the student demonstrates knowledge and the skills necessary to perform various aspects of automotive repair. The student can pursue career opportunities at automotive factories, dealerships, independent automotive and auto body repair facilities, smog shops, specialization shops, restoration facilities, and public agencies.
The student demonstrates competence in the following areas if emphasis in courses within the major and electives are AUTOMECH: engine repair, automatic transmission/transaxle, manual drive train and axles, suspension and steering, brakes, electrical/electronic systems, heating and air conditioning, and engine performance. The student can take the eight Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) exams in the mentioned areas.
The student demonstrates competence in the following areas if emphasis in courses within the major and electives are AUTOBODY: painting and refinishing, non-structural analysis and damage repair, structural analysis and damage repair, damage analysis and estimating, and classic automotive restoration.
This program is accredited by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) in association with the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). This program is certified by the California Department of Consumer Affairs/Bureau of Automotive Repair (DCA/BAR). This program is also certified by the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR).
