Horticulture - Sustainable Landscape Management Certificate of Achievement

Upon successful completion of the Horticulture - Sustainable Landscape Management certificate, the student will demonstrate skills, knowledge, and training to take the California’s Landscape Association Certified Technician exam, or to gain or advance employment in entry-level positions as a: supervisor of landscape and groundskeeping workers, landscape installer, groundskeeper, landscape contractor, or small business owner. The student will demonstrate the skills and abilities to: perform essential plant care, such as transplanting, fertilizing, mowing, and pruning, identify, diagnose, and treat common plant pests, develop project bids and basic landscape designs, and implement landscape projects.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Practically apply fundamental plant identification knowledge.
- Use knowledge of plant growth and threats to plant health to identify and diagnose common plant pest problems.
- Understand and apply basic business skills critical to the landscape management industry, such as time management, attention to detail, and consistency.
- Demonstrate technical skills and knowledge necessary for employment in the landscape management industry.
