Advisories: ESL 9080 with a grade of “P”. Students are strongly advised to enroll concurrently in the ESL reading/writing course of the appropriate level (ESL 9082, ESL 9085, ESL 9088, or ESL 9059) based on placement exam scores and multiple measures. In addition, students are strongly advised to enroll concurrently in the ESL grammar course of the appropriate level (ESL 9081, ESL 9084, ESL 9087, or ESL 9089) based on placement exam scores and multiple measures.
This noncredit course is designed to develop listening comprehension and oral proficiency of academic English for the non-native speaker, at the high-intermediate level. Listening focuses on note-taking and comprehension of spoken English in academic situations, media, and discussion. Speaking focuses on English fluency, proficiency, and strategies for discussion and personal interaction. Noncredit courses may be repeated.
